Edgar Allan Poe Bicentennial Events

Planners are ramping up to stage a series of events celebrating the bicentennial of Edgar Allan Poe's birth on January 19th, 2009. Several major cities and states where Poe spent critical portions of his life are planning to hold various events in his honor and memory. Some will have tributes only on the day of his birth, while others are using the date next month to kick off a yearlong celebration of Poe related readings, tours, and performances. • Finally, this blog devoted to the bicentennial does a fine job of keeping track of the numerous Poe events sprouting up across the country: "The Edgar Allan Poe Bicentennial."

Hopefully, we will see further celebrations appear in more distant states and cities, and not merely in the places Poe himself set foot so that all can honor this titan of weird literature.
