Gogeye

There's something ominously unsettling about these short "Gogeye" videos that have garnered some recent attention on Youtube. Each one is less than a minute long, containing malformed figures, hushed screams in staticy tapes, and dark doorways. What separates "Gogeye" from other amateur efforts is a highly mysterious air, and deep ambiguity in both audio and visual elements of each video--playing on the ever-flexible human imagination. A new video usually appears at least once every week or two, with the latest one being posted three days ago. Whether this is some clever viral marketing for an amateur film or band, or just the senseless, creepy uploads of a madman is unknown.
One of the most startling is embedded here below. A muffled conversation and scream struggles to burst out of a malfunctioning tape recorder. This one hits me with Ligottian overtones, given the mysterious, unknowable speech, and the unforgettable use of eerie rants on tape in Ligotti's "The Bungalow House." Watch it, and then check out the "Gogeye001" channel for more. The order of viewing these shorts doesn't seem to matter, though perhaps I've missed some secret subtlety.
