Lovecraftian Poem Readings
Tuesday, November 27, 2007
Youtube artist Joe6panther6 has posted several amateur videos of H. P. Lovecraft poem readings, with accompanying atmosphere. Eerie imagery and deep narration make them appropriate to Lovecraft's mood, even if the voiceover can be a bit overbearing at times in unrelenting creepyness. These videos are also to be applauded for giving HPL's lesser known works a new audience. His poems, aside from the epic couplets of "Fungi from Yuggoth," are mostly shunned by the big publishers, given the decline of poetic appreciation in American society. Though it must be said some of Lovecraft's poetic works deserve being placed on the backburner, for ridiculously archaic style and attention to socio-political-racial themes unpopular today. Fortunately, all the videos produced thus far are selected poems encapsulating the best of Lovecraft's weird horror. One of these clips, "Where Once Poe Walked," is embeded here, while two others are linked.

Also, more selected poems by HPL can be read here from this wiki-archive.
