Re-Animator: 1942

An interesting amateur film has been produced by Fierro Films for the upcoming Re-Animator Fan Film Contest. "Re-Animator: 1942" is a roughly three minute video depicting the ongoing adventures of Dr. Herbert West. This time, West is up to his macabre experiments on the Eastern Front during World War II, attempting to revive casualties of the deadly exchange between the USSR and Germany.

"Re-Animator" producer Stuart Gordon originally conceived the present call for amateur films as a way to keep the cult movies alive, after plans for his latest sequel fell through. The contest will take submissions until May 1st, 2008. A screening of the best pictures and the selection of a winner will follow later next month, on May 17th. Look for the cream of the crop to appear at other horror film festivals later this year, and perhaps even see a limited online or DVD release as well.
