Horror Masters is a nice website providing downloadable .PDF copies of classics from the field of dark literature. Along with the traditional work of Bram Stoker and Mary Shelley, readers will find a wide array of stories, novellas, and books written by titans of weird fiction. Edgar Allen Poe, H.P. Lovecraft, Algernon Blackwood, M.R. James, and other prominent fantasists have a large bulk of their oeuvre available on this site. However, the real genius of the site lies not just in its library-like content, but in its categorizations.
One can find short stories assembled in the order they appeared in at the time of their original print anthology publications. Blackwood, Lovecraft, and Machen, among others, enjoy digital reprints of story collections long out of print. The .PDFs can also be sorted by chronology, subject, or length/format. There's even a category called "Lovecraft picks," cataloging stories by other authors referenced in his epic study of weird fiction, "Supernatural Horror in Literature."
All in all, Horror Masters is an incredible resource for readers seeking casual frights and scholarship. Students of the weird should be especially overjoyed, as nearly all of the writers constituting the core of weird fiction up to H.P. Lovecraft are now just a click away.
