Photos of H.P. Lovecraft's Study at 66 College Street

Images of H.P. Lovecraft's residences are fairly common in books that explore the author's life in any detail. However, photos of the interiors of those houses are much rarer. Thanks to the "Lovecraft is Missing" web comic, whose author is intent on re-creating Lovecraft's surroundings with high accuracy, a couple rare photographs of Lovecraft's study at 66 College Street have been posted online. This was Lovecraft's last residence in Providence, where he lived with his Aunt until his death in March, 1937.
The two photos were taken by Robert H. Barlow, a young friend of HPL and original executor of Lovecraft's estate after his death. Unfortunately, there's no indication in their description of when these were taken. It isn't difficult to imagine the use this study was put to by the Providence writer. Desks like these were likely where Lovecraft spent the majority of his time as he busied himself with conjuring new weird tales and penning his voluminous epistles.
