The reaction of various individuals and outlets to the bizarre spiral sky phenomenon above Tromso, Norway is nearly as fascinating as the great whirl itself. Conspiracists immediately dismissed claims by the Russian government that it was caused by a failed missile test, leaning toward New gs Agey and UFO driven explanations instead.
