Cthulhu Wiki

In the perpetually expanding world of wiki archives online, it should come as no surprise that a Cthulhu Wiki has attracted burgeoning support. Created through the zealous Lovecraftian channels of Yog-Sothoth forums, Cthulhu Wiki was established a couple years ago as an open source community for H.P. Lovecraft, the Cthulhu Mythos, and relevant surrounding material of the weird. What the wiki currently lacks in scholarship, it more than makes up for in fan-generated design and more obscure content.
For instance, compare the standard Wikipedia entry for H.P. Lovecraft himself, with the same topic on Cthulhu Wiki. While Wikipedia provides more solid grounds for hard facts, alongside diverse multicultural opinions on Lovecraft, Cthulhu Wiki gains an upper hand in heart warming ephemera and style. For other weird authors like Arthur Machen, however, the wiki articles are virtually indistinguishable. In instances like these, Cthulhu Wiki's only real advantage lies in saving the reader from having to wade through the distractions of the mother encyclopedia, and in having the same articles accessible in a wide database focusing solely on outre topics.
One of Cthulhu Wiki's most profound powers is its store of materials related to Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu Role Playing Game. This recent entry on the RPG's quest scenario, "Mysteries of Tibet," effectively summarizes the booklet's story outline and character. Yog-Sothoth forums currently enjoy the most activity from active Call of Cthulhu gamers, resulting in a number of comprehensive items on the RPG filed by knowledgeable members of both online circles. This, then, makes Cthulhu Wiki an appealing resource for not only casual browsers, but role players as well.
