Great Amazon Offer for "Artists Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft"
Tuesday, April 8, 2008
Amazon.com once again preserves its reputation as a savvy place to scout for incredible deals, particularly on rare items worthy of going in the weird-mill. Currently, the online superstore is offering A Lovecraft Retrospective: Artists Inspired by H.P. Lovecraft for a tremendous discount--a little more than one third off the publisher's price. Of course, it shouldn't be surprising that this scrumptious, but costly tome is seeing massive price cuts. The most basic edition of the hardcover book, put out by Millipede Press earlier this year, originally carried a $395 US price tag. Via Amazon, the book is now at a much more wallet friendly price of about $250.
Despite the book's immense value, even this discount is likely to give the bulk of Lovecraft fandom pause before readily forking over enough money for a popular electronic device. Perhaps the buyer on the fence would be wise to view this 400 page art gallery bound in cloth as an investment. The standard edition of this retrospective is only appearing in a 1,000 print run, contains enough visionary grotesques to stir Cthulhu's nightmares for a few millennia, and includes commentary by weird demi-gods like Thomas Ligotti, Harlan Ellison, and Stuart Gordon. If the cautious connoisseurs of Lovecraftiana can successfully raid their accounts, then they're certain not to be disappointed. The skyrocketing value of this work after it sells out in a couple years, as well as the priceless fulfillment of an entire library of horrors inspired by the Providence writer, ensures there will be little subsequent buyer regret.
