H.P. Lovecraft's "The White Ship" Song
Thursday, April 17, 2008
Ever wondered what the psychedelic band H.P. Lovecraft sounded like? You can now find out, thanks to this recent upload of their track, "The White Ship," to Youtube. This haunting melody by the 1960s group combines the best of their distinctive sound with lyrics reminiscent of H.P. Lovecraft's story by the same name. The Chicago based group gained some notoriety in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but despite their name, stuck to mostly psychedelic themes. As this piece illustrates, however, the group produced a few songs bearing direct homage to the author whose name they appropriated. This fantastic creation is one of the best and most directly Lovecraftian in their entire discography.
