Lovecraft in the Czech Republic!
Friday, April 18, 2008
Today and tomorrow, H.P. Lovecraft readers in Prague (and elsewhere in Europe) will have the opportunity to view a series of dramas put on by the students and faculty of the Czech Republic's main English College. Perhaps there's a slim chance images, video, or scripts from the event will appear? As with most things foreign and Lovecraftian, any documentation would seize the interest of Lovecraft students--especially since Prague is one of the most interesting places for an organized Lovecraftian event to appear in recent memory. Moreover, Lovecraftian happenings outside the United States are not well understood, except in a few select nations like Britain, France, Italy, Japan, and (to a lesser extent) Russia. Knowledge about HPL's following in Eastern Europe since the end of the Cold War could probably fill a page or two, at most. So, let this blog entry double as an invitation to the organizers of this Prague show to submit any materializes or recordings of it to the proper channels on the web for archival purposes!
From the website:
The play is an unconventional series of student- and staff-produced dramas based on the science fictional/horror writings of author H.P. Lovecraft. Sea demons, psychiatric patients and ghastly ghouls will abound. Tickets are 150kc. To reserve tickets, please call The English College in Prague at +420 283 893 113.
