"A Shoggoth on the Roof" Puppet Show

Tuesday, May 13, 2008

Youtube is featuring video of a puppet show set to the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society's notorious musical, "A Shoggoth on the Roof." The odd black and white production burned on film looks very appropriate for the subject matter. And puppets? Yet another involuntary intersection between Lovecraft and the deeply melancholy weirdism of Thomas Ligotti. Unfortunately, the shaky and sometimes distant camera work for the Youtube presentation leaves much to be desired.

For now, it presents a great opportunity to sort-of-see a thematic performance of the musical, and to hear its Cutethulhuvian songs of cosmic horror. A clearer record of this event may emerge in the future. Part one is embedded below, and the others are available at the direct Youtube link above.
