Weird News: Colossal Squid Revealed!

The BBC has done an interesting follow up to their article noted here earlier this week about the dissection of a captured Colossal Squid. For the first time, scientists successfully extracted the eye of the great monstrosity--or more precisely, its lens (above). It appears every inch of the thing is as hideous and marvelous as nature has come to a genuinely Lovecraftian blasphemy. The BBC article linked above is well worth a glimpse, as it also contains further images of the Antarctic horror and even a video clip. H.P. Lovecraft himself may have shuddered at this discovery if he were alive today. Either that, or preceded to concoct a slew of yet stranger extraterrestrial organisms. Aspiring weird writers should not pass up keeping close watch on the unfolding saga of the squid corpse. Come to think of it, neither should the rest of you. What weird connoisseur can really pass up a good real life plunge into the eldritch?
