H.P. Lovecraft Poster Featuring Tiger Army
Friday, June 27, 2008
This old poster advertising an appearance by the band Tiger Army exhibits a cat-like version of H.P. Lovecraft. In fact, the Old Gent looks a bit like a tiger army recruit himself. Little else is known about this piece. The lack of year makes it difficult to date, though Tiger Army formed in 1995 and is still active. It's also unknown, but unlikely, that the musicians had any major input in this advertisement. More likely, the organizers of the event wanted a theme stressing the "Unseen Creepshow," and selected H.P. Lovecraft as a symbol. They could've done worse. The tentacles and feline features of HPL are simple, but charming in their own way.
