Internet Radio Interview with S.T. Joshi
Friday, June 6, 2008
Yog-Sothoth.com is currently featuring a great radio interview with celebrated Lovecraft scholar, S.T. Joshi. It's a part of their long running series of online radio broadcasts through "Yog Radio." The first part of the broadcast focuses on new scenarios and happenings in the world of Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu Role Playing Game. Call of Cthulhu gaming has always been a major point of interest for Yog-Sothoth.com.
Joshi's interview begins about two thirds of the way through the show, so if your sole interest is hearing S.T. Joshi, use the Quicktime download to skip ahead. As usual, Joshi shines with as much clarity in audio/video media as he does in his analytical writing. The Lovecraftian sage discusses his own history with H.P. Lovecraft scholarship, the author's role in literature, and a number of other topics. Joshi also drops tantalizing hints about publishing a new edition of his seminal biography H.P. Lovecraft: A Life, as well as a forthcoming edition of H.P. Lovecraft and Robert E. Howard correspondence. It seems the scholar wants to release an unabridged edition of his massive bio via (the currently dormant) Necronomicon Press. This is an informative interview not to be missed for the Lovecraftian fanatic.
An interesting aside, Joshi notes he was first captivated by Lovecraft after reading "The Rats in the Walls"--the same HPL story that enraptured yours truly.
