The 2008 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival: Post-Report

Thursday, October 9, 2008

Now that several days have passed since the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival for 2008 ended on Sunday, the internet is being populated with much great content. For those of us who missed the action, these skillful bloggers have produced some very capable media. Their writings, videos, and images give even the distant viewer a taste of the Festival's atmosphere:

  • "Wyrdstuff: Report: H.P.L. Film Festival 2008:" It appears the creators of the documentary, "H.P. Lovecraft: Fear of the Unknown," enjoyed resounding success at their Portland screening. Even better, however, they have posted a nice report on their site's blog highlighting pictures, speakers, and commentary from the event.
  • "Rev. Edward Morris' Old-Time Gnostic Gospel Hour: H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival 2008:" This blogger recounts his personal experiences and impressions from the Hollywood Theater. The panels, the movies, the readings, the famous authors, and a bit of drama are all mentioned in this brief, but authentic post.
  • Photos from the HPL Film Festival on "Flickr:" Check out this online hub frequented for photos of popular events to find fresh Lovecraftiana. Though pictures from the Festival are somewhat low right now, this will not be for long. "Flickr" is a continually updating archive that will surely see images of the 2008 event increase ten fold over the next few weeks.
  • RevDanno's Youtube footage: This short video taken with a mobile device shows the exterior of the Hollywood Theater, lobby, and a few clips from the stage.

  • "Rue Morgue's" Chief Editor, Jovanka Vuckovic, was a keynote speaker at this year's event. Her speech is recorded in this Youtube video, right from the magazine itself.

  • Robert M. Price opened the Festival, and abovetheaether has graciously shared his speech via Youtube.
