Free Web Release of Thomas Ligotti's Film "The Frolic"
Saturday, November 1, 2008
Yesterday, Wonder Entertainment put out a free web release of "The Frolic," adapted from Thomas Ligotti's short story of the same name. Halloween spurred the move, and perhaps a desire to sell more of existing inventory to buyer's wanting to get their hands on a physical DVD after seeing it online. All non-autographed DVDs of the short movie were discounted by $10. It's very pleasing to see this first film adaption of a Ligotti work brought to the general public for free. The production was previously released in the Spring, after near-perfectionist work by Thomas Ligotti and Brandon Trenz, among others. "Grim Reviews" previously gave this film a detailed review here.
Catch this one today, while the spirit of Halloween still hangs in the air. It truly is a picture that will raise the bar for weird fiction adaptions to cinema in the 21st century.
