The Providence of H.P. Lovecraft
Wednesday, November 5, 2008
A nice documentary appeared on Youtube the other day highlighting the career of H.P. Lovecraft and the author's hometown. Three film makers travel to famous Lovecraftian sites in Providence, Rhode Island to teleport viewers through the camera to the ground HPL inhabited, and the residences he lived in. Additionally, the trio visit real life settings that Lovecraft injected into his weird tales, such as the infamous "Shunned House." The piece closes with a short look at H.P. Lovecraft's grave at Swan Point Cemetery--a must for every true Lovecraft reader in Providence. If you've never made it to New England to walk in the archaic footsteps of Lovecraft, but always wanted to, then perhaps this video will help tide you over until undertaking such a trip.
