Volume II of Ligotti's "The Nightmare Factory" Comic Confirmed

Saturday, May 3, 2008

It's official: thanks to a blog post from artist Joe Harris, a second volume of "The Nightmare Factory" has been confirmed. This production, again from Fox Atomic, will have a release date about a year after the first volume of these Thomas Ligotti based adaptions appeared--early fall, 2008. Details are sketchy at this point, but it appears both Joe Harris and Stuart Moore are returning as illustrators from the first project. Two tales originally from Ligotti's Teatro Grottesco collection are known: "The Clown Puppet" and "Gas Station Carnivals." Ligotti's early tale, "The Chymist," as well as his semi-Lovecraftian tale entitled "The Sect of the Idiot," will also appear. These are a couple of the most chilling short stories from the bleak and icy writer's mind. Though they contain the underlying existential nightmarishness Ligotti is famous for, they are also some of his more vivid works, rich in imagery of easily tangible horrors.

This second graphic novel will reportedly retail for the same price as the first when it hits shelves: about $17.99 US. Curiously, the promo flyer shown on Joe Harris' site depicts a different cover than the one I have posted above, which was retrieved from the cover gallery of Thomas Ligotti Online. The Fox Atomic website linked above is also currently blank, with the exception of a splash page containing its logo. This is quite possibly due to a revamping of the site by FA in preparation for a preview of the new work.
