Song from Strange Aeons Album

"The Maze of Maal Dweb" by the Petals has been uploaded to Youtube as a musical offering from Rainfall's rare album, Strange Aeons. This catchy tune is primarily based on Clark Ashton Smith's story," The Maze of Maal Dweb," a tale of fantastic sorcerers in his typically strange worlds. Like many Smith stories, it contains certain Lovecraftian elements. It can be considered a parallel accompanying work to the Cthulhu Mythos, though more knowledgeable CAS scholars would be better to evaluate its place than I.

Strange Aeons was originally released as a two CD compilation of weird music inspired by Lovecraft and his circle. It was released in 2001 by Rainfall Records, whose page still says it's available for purchase. I would be surprised, however, as this small UK publisher tends to churn out highly creative books and music works that quickly become hard to find. Though this Youtube posting of "The Maze of Maal Dweb" probably skirts the border of various property rights, the sampling ought to be enjoyed by weird enthusiasts for as long as it is up.
